Axl is out of his pain meds and we don't have an emergency type place where we live. I think he must have slid on the ice while playing today because he is favoring his back leg. Is there anything I can give him until tommorrow. I did give him a benedryl hoping it would make him sleepy and keep him calmer.
You can give them a baby asprin- I keep some on hand just for this reason!
Ascriptin or if all you have is regular aspirin, give him bread with it.
i have both baby aspirin and ibuprofen on hand. I thought dogs couldnt have the ibuprofen. How many baby aspirin, he is 96 pounds
Only aspirin. Did he see the vet for his meds before?

Thanks, yes he just ran out of his rymadel, I did find a chart online that was very helpful. Thanks for answering
Sorry I didn't get back sooner! I give Sammi at 65lbs. 2 tabs. with food I think she can even have 3 of the 81mg. baby asprin. What did it say online! No Ibuprofen or tylenol
I would just crate him or restrict his movement until you can get to the vet. Pain isn't necessarily a bad thing, particularly if there is a soft tissue injury.. being aware that he hurts will (theoretically) stop him from overdoing it.
Ditto to what Kaytris said.
Pain can be the friend that prevents those movements/activities that could cause more injury.
