If you are interested or can take the time to do the AKC survey about mixed breed dogs competing, etc.. please do so. You can find the survey at the following website.
If you don't own mixed breed dogs, it doesn't let you take the survey. Bummer.
Eiderdowns That's My Buddy
CDX, RE, WC, CGC, TDInc.
Really? How convenient is that. :-\Originally Posted by buddysmom

I took it, Peanut's ancestry is questionable.
Baloo - 5 year old black lab
Peanut - 7 year old minpin
Monster - 3-ish year old frenchie/jack, rescue
The AKC is snobby and they are ruining some of the breeds.

From the preamble, it seems they will be opening events to mixed breeds, with a parallel titling system. Sounds like a logistical nightmare for trial organizers, myself... (but I would still love if the CKC would follow suit....
The AKC is interested in finding out if owners of mixed breeds would be interested in competing in AKC events, not whether or not mixed breeds should be allowed. Therefore, if you don't own a mixed breed it really doesn't matter what your opinion is on this subject.Originally Posted by cinderbaylabs
I know a lot of people trash AKC, and I don't really know enough of the history to bash them or not, but the are a registry for purebred dogs and promote events for purebred dogs, so you really can't get mad at them for not allowing misbreeds in their events up to this point. I think they are finding that entries are dropping in their obedience events and they are probably trying to promote entries.
I have to agree with patm, but one critical factor was left out or at least not directly stated. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$Originally Posted by patm

...the negative person in me is wondering if AKC would then be promoting labradoodles and other such nonsense breeds. Can't a person get an ILP anyway and compete?
