    DefaultWhatcha Lookin At, Cap?

Gene Hill, in his book "Tears and Laughter", says it best ...

He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds.

He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea.

He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.)

When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.

When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.

When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.

When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags.

Without him, I am only another person.

    With him, I am all-powerful.

He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion.

With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace.

He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant.

His head on my knee can heal my human hurts.

His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things.

He has promised to wait for me . . . whenever . . . wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have.

    He is just my dog.

Cappy is certainly that to me. Over the years he's proven to me time and again that he's a better "watcher" than I usually am. Guess his long distance vision (and I don't need or wear distance glasses) is apparently superior to mine as is his low light seeing skills.

This was Cappy yesterday in the blind with Carol. She saw Cappy suddenly strike that familiar and intense stare that only a close-by bird can evoke. But he wasn't looking up ... very strange ... he was looking out of the blind and close by too.

    Whatcha see, boy?

Remi and Rusty aren't my whole life. They're trying to fill the hole in my heart left by Cappy's passing.

Thanks for posting this...I have a hard time explaining to Scott why I am so attached to Billie and why sometimes he'll find me laying on the floor just scratching her belly, having a quiet moment just the two of us.

I think this will help him understand.

No ... seriously. You just didn't do the correct search. Look here >>>>

"A person who remains aloof from controversial issues.

This archetypal American word derives from the Algonquian dialect of Native Americans in Massachusetts. In their language, it meant “war leader”. The Puritan missionary John Eliot used it in his translation of the Bible into their language in 1663 to convey the English words duke, officer and captain.

Also, in the State of Texas, a predatory fresh water wading bird often achieving a standing height of over 4 feet. It's name is thought to be derived from it's unusual habit of perching atop barbed wire fences, often with its mug on one side and its wump on the other.

In the other 49 states the bird is fairly common and referred to as a Great Blue Heron."
