Rufus has been playing with a 4yr old Golden Retriever lately which is quite "bitchy" LOL.
We have just noticed these patches that have very little hair on his hind quarters. We have not noticed him licking, scratching, or biting at them so I don't think he is bothered by them.
Could the Retriever's "nipping" during play time take out chunks of hair like this?
Jazzy nipped at Jakes neck once and it caused a hot spot, but your picture doesn't look like a hot spot to me. Not sure what it might be.
HK had a run in with an aggressive dog several weeks ago. The other dog did nip out a chunk of fur, bit is was a long narrow sharply defined strip. Didn't have any of the thining or balding appearance I see in your pictures.
Hershey Kisses, In charge of getting Ed out to the dog park so that he gets some exercise.
That looks very much like the bare spots our Shadow had. They eventually were completely bald of hair. :-\ The vet tested, scraped, prodded, and poked, but could not find the cause. The skin was dry, unbroken, perfectly normal. We put her on Missing Link Plus and the hair came back completely in about three months.
