Zoe has three laundry baskets full of toys, plus she has a garbage bag
full of toys I've washed and put aside. :-\
I'm done w/buying toys for awhile.
(there is also a box full of brand new toys which I'm starting to give away as gifts)
All this toy business started when our behaviorist said to get your dog 100 toys (not $100 worth...100 toys!) if we didn't want our house, furniture and furnishings to be chewed. So as a pup, she had over a 100.
We used to have a pile at least twice that size for Shadow. I had two laundry hampers full in the living room, plus a giant vacuum storage bag full in the garage. Once she was over a year old, she stropped tearing up her stuffies and just loved to play with them and carry them around. Everyone kept giving her more for Christmas and birthdays, and of course I bought her a couple or fifty.
I let Buddy have them (after putting away some of Shadow's favorites) and he has destroyed all but about six of them. The only things that remain are Nylabones, some balls, a couple of rubbery squeaky toys, and Kongs.
My house looks like a day care! Mine mostly have marrow bones. Every night I go around and pick things up and put them in their toy box so I don't trip over something if I get up in the middle of the night.
Tal has lots..not quite that many tho. He seems to latch on to one for a long time. Then starts in with another..but he does have a box full. I got him a stuffed pheasant and he loves that thing even tho he has de-stuffed it. U just don't have the heart to throw it away since I saw him sleeping with it as a pillow. That and his still-fully-stuffed hedgehog.
