Lula still smells like a puppy. In the little dip in her forehead, between her eyes.

    It make me very happy.

You guys got a special sniffin' spot on your labbies?

No special spot, but sometimes I just bury my face in their fur, and take a deep breath.... and hope they haven't been rolling in anything gross.

    Fri-toes, definitely.

    Henery's neck, behind his ears...

His chest, after he's been all curled up in a ball, warm with sleep.

I have been thinking about this alot. I love the smell of Labs, not just Lucy. The frito smell. I bet some people would find it unpleasant and unappealing.
Cricket, my Cairn has a distinct odor since she was a puppy. It isn't like the Lab frito smell. It is like an earthy, wet straw smell. I don't find it appealing and I don't bury my face in her neck or her head or coat and enjoy her smell. (I do love her to death though)

I wonder those who multiple breeds in the house notice the difference in smells between dogs.

Also, I wonder if we blindfolded ourselves and lined up our labbies, whether we could identify our pups just by smell alone?

My Moms black lab Molly (at the bridge now) had a very distinct, wonderful smell. I can almost smell it from memory. Molly always got lots of hugs and kisses from me (and everyone else). She was allowed on the furniture and the beds.
Toby, the Basset Hound that she had at the same time didn't get to enjoy the same privileges as Molly. Because of his stench most of the family wouldn't pet him (Mom and I would) and he was never allowed on the furniture. :-X

Like I said, I can remember Molly's smell clearly and it was different from Lula's smell. I think that we would all pass the blindfold test.
