    Defaultblood everywhere - BAD MOM!

I decided to try trimming the boys' nails after we brought them back from the park, while they were sleepy and relaxed. Started with Champ, just barely taking the tips off. Did one front paw, it went great - not a jerk or a struggle. *phew* Started on the second paw, he moved and I cut too far. Just barely took 1/4" off, but it was too much. That was two hours ago and he's still bleeding. Put a gauze pad over it and taped it to his leg, then gave him a Kong and put him in his crate so he will stay quiet and give it a chance to stop.

Of course, he kept licking the blood and spreading it out, so it looks even worse! :-[

Poor Champ! I know how you feel though. Maybe Sargeant is rare but I have only had to clip his claws like 2 maybe 3 times, they just don't seem to grow. My beagle's nails get long pretty quick and his have to be clipped all the time and every once in awhile he will jerk and they just seem to bleed forever no matter what we do! I hate it, it always makes me feel so bad too! :-[

Aww.. I've done that before to Bella. If you have some baking
soda you can dab on it and it should clot it up. Make it
    pasty with a little water.

That's what it used to look like at our house before I started using the mini Dremel. I love that thing.

I'm going to have to try using the Dremel, although the first time I did they both freaked out. :-\

    Aww, poor guy. Poor you!

BTW, I have had good luck getting blood out of the dog bed with lemon juice and Shout! as long as the cover is washable.

pressing the nail into a bar of soap makes an impromptu clot... there's also a product you can buy that stops bleeding... Poor Champ...

I did that a little while ago.

If you have any styptic powder, it saved the day for me.
