She's now 8 and her face is getting whiter, and I am finally seeing signs of her slowing down. A touch, just a touch..........

And since it's been 2 years since I posted this story:
Happy Birthday Yeller. While this isn't your official gotchya day, this is your true birthday!!
I still remember the first time meeting you with Jordan, when your then owner yelled out "Hey you with the lab, come here" and I slowed down on the roller blades, put Jordan in a heel and looked over, and there you were on her front lawn tied to the maple tree.
There you were everyday after that with Colleen, waiting for the two of us to come by. You and Jordan played and played and Colleen and I became friends slowly.
Then the day came when you weren't tied to the tree and when I asked Colleen where you were, she told me that she had given you to her neice cause she could no longer handle you, and her long hours weren't fair to you. I was sad and Jordan kept looking for you. I told Colleen she should have mentioned something to me, that I would have taken you or could have helped with letting you out etc.
That was a sad week for us with no Yeller to visit. Then on that Saturday, you were back!! I asked Colleen what the? and she told me that you peed everywhere at her neice's house, ate her couch and she didn't want you. You were 5 months old at that time. I asked Colleen what she was going to do with you, and she told me that she definately couldn't keep you, she had to find a new home.
To make a long story short, I came home with you from my walk that day Yeller. The SU didn't yell or make a fuss (that came later, after you ripped the kitchen cupboard doors down) and you settled in slowly to our house.
You had bad anxiety and even worse seperation anxiety. You had diarreha every night, crated, uncrated, in our room wherever. I learned to love my steam cleaner that year. Then finally one day you just stopped. It was like your nerves settled down and you knew you were with us to stay.
We learned you didn't like the F word and that if our voices were raised, you went to the farthest corner of the yard.
I will wrap this up Yeller by saying that you have become the sweetest, smartest, most obedient dog compared to what you were that first year. You've settled in and what I love most is that you still find water with that first time discovery puppy love to this day.
Thanks for coming to us Yeller and Happy Birthday!!
