    DefaultPupguest arriving today

Macy, my sisters 12 week old Golden Retriever female. Should be interesting. She'll be staying until Wed.
I'm a bit concerned because she's not fully vaccinated yet. Should I be? What precautions should I take? I'm not sure what she's missing, other than rabies. Obviously, she won't be going to a dog park or daycare or anything like that. Just us and the boys.

No advice. Just wanted to say good luck and have fun. Now you will be able to relive the puppy ages.

I'd be concerned about her picking something up without all her vaccines. Why wouldn't she be - if she's 12 weeks?

Even if she did it today, I don't know how well she would be protected for the next three days.

I guess I'm a worrier, when it comes to stuff like that.

    Have fun with her!

Do you know how many sets she has, Amy? If she has at least two she'll probably be fine, just avoid high-traffic areas and places where lots of other dogs go. Baloo started puppy class at 12 weeks, with two sets under his belt.

She does have 2 sets. She just hasn't had time to take her in for the 3rd and final. I'm a worrier too, Bren, and I already told her I was very concerned about it. :-\

Relax and enjoy her, Amy. Can't wait to hear how Frankie does with a little one. I'm SURE you'll take pictures, won't you.

Max, the little GSD staying with us hasn't had any shots yet. The "breeder" didn't start them but since he got rid of them all at 4-1/2 wks why am I surprised. The vet that saw Max the day he came here told Max's Dad that as long as my dogs were up to date on everything, Max should be okay. I have stayed home from the dog park since he got here on the chance that we could bring something home to him. So far, so good. Max goes home this weekend, and I get to recover a little sleep ;D

Is she too young for a small frozen marrow bone??

She should be fine with two sets of shots if she stays around the house and yard. She is just a little too young probably to have the third set yet.
If she never had a marrow bone before, I would either give her something else, or give it to her for a short time with most of the marrow removed. Her tummy might get a little upset if she gets too much.
