    DefaultDiarreha clean-up?

    Hello:

My two year old lab Loki had his first accident in the house while we were gone yesterday. The poor guy had diarrhea on our downstairs carpet and it just breaks my heart knowing he had to go so bad but also knowing he shouldn't. Poor guy!

Wondering if anyone has some tips on how to get the stain and stink out of the carpet? My boyfriend scrubbed and scrubbed yesterday but we still have a stain and the smell is awful. We can live with a stain but need the stink to go away!

    Help!!

    Thanks a bunch!
    Maryjo

My best advice to you, is to invest in a steam cleaner. Mine has been my best friend throughout our dogs lifetimes. It is the best way to make sure you've got it all.

In the interim, buy some Nature's Miracle or other odour eliminating product and go at it with that.

When my guys have the frea, I tend to scoop up as much as I can off the carpet, and drag out the steam cleaner. It's paid for itself 1,000 times over in it's life. (of course, as i type this it sits broken and I dread one of the dogs having an accident knowing that there's not much I'll be able to do about it........)

    throw it out
    give up
    get new carpet

    (kidding)

I came home to find my dog had exploding diarrhea (a year ago) when he was in his kennel all day. My husband immediately went and bought a steam cleaner. We've used it on that diarrhea and later on other (incl vomit) spots. We still have spots. Big ones. Always in the center of the rooms.
Carpet was less than a year old when this happened.

Moral - put in tile, pergo, whatever. Anything but carpet.

If you don't have a steam cleaner you can rent one for now. It would be a good investment for the future though I can't tell you how many times ours has been used we even got a small hand held one for small accidents (we have a yorkie too). Natures Miricle or Hydrogen Peroxide should help get rid of the smell.

Lol sounds similar to my husband. Our last dog had Giardia, aka exploding diarrhea, and it didn't take hubby more than 3 seconds to rush out that door to go and get one. Of course he wasn't in the best of moods when he left...lol

We have a bissel...smaller one that is prolly the size of a toolbox. Cost $80 and I think he got it at Best Buy.

So yeah...TOTALLY for the steam cleaner approach...you can even add Petzyme or Nature's miracle right into the steam cleaner compartment too.

"Out" for the clean up & then steam clean the carpet. Good luck.
