Default3 Days to new puppy! Are we ready??

I can't believe we get to pick up Remy this weekend! We are so psyched! We've done a ton of shopping and I think we have everything we need...toys, bedding, more toys, kibble, ... did I mention toys? We've got a crate and separate bowls for him...I even remembered to put some of his bedding in our bed to sleep with this week so it has our scent. And I got him the cutest stuffed pig...okay, let me explain that our golden got a teddy bear when she arrived and I didn't want Remy's baby toys to look like hers...so he gets a pig which I have also been sleeping with to give it my scent. We've even got his new collar with his ID tag ready...

    Is there anything I'm forgetting?

The only other thing is working out the logistics of Remy meeting our existing dog in "neutral territory". I'm hoping the dead end street a few houses down counts at neutral cuz I think its going to be too cold to go any where else. I figure we'll have our 2 year old golden meet him down the street...and look! He likes you so much he's followed you home! Any one think this will fly?

    Congratulations!!
Do you know if a lot of other dog use the proposed meeting space? My only concern would be the puppy picking up something since he hasn't had all his shots yet. Other than that I think taking them for a little walk first would be fine.

Do you have anything with his Mom/sibling's scent? We took two towels and a stuffed dog with us when we went to pick up Baloo and rubbed them all over his mom/brothers and sisters. We then put them in the crate with him when we brought him home. I think it helped to comfort him.

Nature's miracle? (enzyme cleaner for "accidents", a MUST! )

Well, our neighborhood is a HUGE dog neighborhood. It seems as if everyoone owns a pooch. ;D That being said...I figured we'd stay on the actual pavement for the meet and greet and then hubby would bring puppy home via car and I would walk Brooklyn home....??

We have tons of Nature's Miracle...and bottles of Bitter Apple.

I didn't think to get anything with the momma's scent on it...do you think that will confuse the puppy? I thought it would be better to inundate him with his new "pack" scent....?? I'm sure the breeder wouldn't mind if we rubbed down Connie with a towel, but I don't want to make his separation worse....??

I think it helped with the transition. Your scent will be all over the house, and it is unfamiliar to him. I found it seemed to comfort Baloo to have something with him that smelled like "home"....... made it a little easier.

Then I will bring a towel with us when we pick him up and give Mama a rub down! Thanks for the idea!

Is your other dog good with other dogs? I've always just brought my puppy home and introduced one dog at a time until everyone was out....inside or out depended on the weather.

Good luck with your new baby!!

Yes, I rubbed a blanket over both Zoe's mom and dad.

Lots of paper towels and poop bags. They're one big pee/poop machine.

    Congratulations!!
