Ria proudly posed with a drake Wigeon yesterday.

Not to be outdone, it was Remi's turn to go with me this morming and she too retrieved a drake Wigeon.

Remi hasn't hunted for a few days and she BEGGED to go this morning. It was 29 degrees and dropping at legal shooting time this morning. A 16 mph N Wind gave us a wind chill temp of near zero. Remi's only retrieve came 15 minutes into the morning light. With those temps and wind, there is a very real danger of hypothermia, even with a vest on and her being in a blind out of the water and protected from the wind by sitting closely next to me. So we called it a day after 45 minutes despite the fact that there were ducks working this morning.

Remi and Ria dreaming of warmer days and more retrieves. Cappy's thinking ... "there's ony five days left in the season and I want to go now, Dad!"

Remi and Rusty aren't my whole life. They're trying to fill the hole in my heart left by Cappy's passing.

Great photo's. Pretty hardy group of hunters to be out in the blind in those temps. I hope you get a bit warmer weather for the remaining days in the season.

Ria was bugging me this morning to go out. She had to smell every inch of the front yard.

    The dogs looked so relaxed.

I adopted a nine year old yellow who'd been a duck dog. I remember the first time I was with him when there was a loud bang. He instantly became alert and looked all around, like "where's the DUCK????" ;D So, I bought him a stuffed toy duck...he loved it!

Linda ... prolly the way you love Magnum, and visa-versa. Cappy makes my heart smile just by always being next to Daddy.

When I look down at him (like now) and he sees me do it, his tail thumps. I tell him ... "I know old fella, and Daddy loves you too." :-*
