If you have multiple dogs, (especially males), do you notice them fighting over you during that time of the month? I have been having multiple fighting and bickering episodes the past week. One led to Bo having another gash in his leg. Luke has been snapping at everyone, and it is only when I am in the room. He lunged at the puppies last night while I was in the bathtub. He wouldn't let them come anywhere near me. He has been doing strange things like this, totally unprovoked. The attack on Bo was right before bed, at the top of the stairs, and Luke went through the puppies to get to him. Bo was very happy right before, no eye cutting, tail wagging, everything was fine. Except I was coming up the stairs right behind Bo. I don't get it.
We haven't had anything like this since last April.
Any clue as to what may be setting him off? There was a full moon this week too.
Have they been fixed?
Definitely. In May. They were back together 1 week after neutering. No problems since then.Originally Posted by Trickster
No I haven't noticed anything of the sort.
Sounds like Luke's on a bit of a dominance kick. :-\

Monster - 3-ish year old frenchie/jack, rescue
I am definitely Alpha here, but I suppose they are trying to reorganize the ranks between them. It just gets to me when it happens out of the blue.Originally Posted by Baloo317

All neutured males here (except Jed~too young yet), and not noticed any dominance issues, the pecking order is pretty much sorted and accepted by all of them

Luke and Bo have been on the same level for a long time. They can't figure out the order. They are both headstrong, but they have 2 completely different personalities. The puppies are the same way. They are equals. They butt heads too, but it is usually over food, or toys. The arguments never cross brotherly boundaries though. The puppies know that Bo and Luke are over them, and they do not dispute that. All of the boys know that the girls (my heeler and wolf) are even higher. Then me above them.
I am at such a loss. Back to square one.
My dogs compete for my attention regularly. They haven't gotten aggressive though.. I haven't noticed an increase during menstruation, but I will keep it in mind.
Full moons also seem to do strange things to doggies behaviour!!!
Puppies Amanda? When did you get puppies??
No, my boys don't do that. It sounds to me, like you said, Luke is trying to establish his pecking order.
