DefaultSometimes I'm Too Trusting and Care Free (semi long)

...okay, so in November 2007, a "new" J/L member PM-ed me.
She introduced herself, gave me her "name" and asked where we to the beach because she had just gotten a chocolate lab. Willy Wonka, she said his name was.

Not thinking it was a problem, I replied, and told her where we go, what time, and how it would be nice to meet another J/L member from Hawaii.

I got no reply after that. ???

I pretty much forgot about it, but I did see "her" post in O&E, I believe.

After Sandy (zoezoe's) story about the Georgia murder >, I started getting very concerned. Oh lah...what if this Willy Wonka person is really a stalker and wanted to get me? "Willy Wonka" is a very unusual name for a lab, right? I told SU if I'm not home by a certain time, to come and look for Zoe & me b/c it could be this Willy Wonka person.

I started carrying my cellphone in my pocket instead of the beach bag, carried $5.00 cash in case Willy Wonka demanded money. Everytime Zoe looked around, I would look too, expecting this Willy Wonka (by now I knew in my heart of hearts it was a bad man out to get us) person to approach us at the beach.

So today....oh man, today. There was a new couple coming from the right side of the beach. Never seen them before. Zoe did look, but didn't mind. I kept playing w/her, but kept my eye out.

They approached and I was ready to pull out my cell to call 911.

Ha....yes, it was Willy Wonka!! A 4 month old chocolate lab PUPPY!!, as cute as cute could be!! And the owner... a petite cutie, very personable, fun!!. She was with her boyfriend.

Willy Wonka, she said, doesn't like to play with other dogs. In fact, he cried when he saw Zoe & Lady. But after about 10 minutes, he was butt-tucking on the sand, doing the play bow, wanting to play.

I was impressed w/her lab. 4 months and so mellow, stays by his master, loves people, small children included.

J...if you see this, it was a great meeting!

(I'll still carry my cellphone in my pocket and $5.00 just in case)

You know what..I don't blame you a bit. In today's world.with all the wacko's that ARE out there..you can never be too sure of these things.
I won't even advertise stuff for sale in our local newspaper, had a bad experience many years ago on the phone with a nutjob..and it left a bad taste in my mouth. And I don't want strangers coming to my house to look at stuff I might have to sell, and check out everything else. So now I mostly give things to friends or throw them out.
It's a sad world we live in at times..I'm glad your story came out alright....but I'd always do what you did today, carry just a little cash, and keep your cell phone handy.

I am glad you met another Jl'er. But like the others said...you just can't be too careful anymore.

My initial thoughts were that someone had found out your home address and was going to burgle your house when they knew it would be empty

Glad everyone ended up having fun at the beach!

    Won't someone please feed me!
