Every morning when Duke wakes up he first shakes out his ears, stretches, and then starts walking around the perimeter of the bed leaning into the side if the bed to rub his side. I've seen cats rub themselves against objects but I was wondering if this was a typical Lab trait as well?
Duke inherited several quirky habits from my old Lab Jake, who passed before we got Duke, so I was wondering if this was one of those inherited traits.
I haven't really seen any of my boys do this, unless they are wet, but my Blue Heeler does it all the time. She is my dog Alpha too though.
Frankie does that, John. At random times though, not upon waking. He rubs against the couch.

Mocha does the ear shake and stretch in the morning. She also does the cat rub but she does it along the hallway wall outside our bedroom. It's at random times though. I can't say I've really noticed Zeus doing it though.
Hudler and Maddy both rub against stuff...usually the wall or the sofa. Mostly after meals.
I always think Nellie as an ear infection when she shacks her head. She also rubs the side of the bed.
Samm rubs against the side of the bed and if I'm sitting on the edge, he walks under my legs to rub against my legs and the side of the bed at the same time. Very cat like.
Puff often shakes her head and stretches (cat-like) when she wakes up. She likes to rub against my legs.

I've seen Allie do this too. Of course she likes to do it up against me (shedding time is the best!!) and then leans sorta backwards and lifts her paw up for a rub - SPOILED :P
Mambo does the same every single morning.Originally Posted by Dukesdad
