A few weeks ago Enzo and I sat down to enjoy a movie night. I had rented 2001: A Space Odyssey from Netflix.
As soon as the movie started up the apes in the opening scene had Enzo's attention. He jumped off the couch and bolted toward the screen with his roughest bark in tow. Luckily I was able to grab him before he jumped through the screen.
Tonight we were sitting around watching Animal Planet and a group of orangutans were on screen. Again Enzo went ballistic. The hair on the back of his neck stood up and he was totally focused on the screen, barking his head off.
Guess I'll have to curb the watching of ape related material in the future!
Is it the ape sound they make...you know that screechy scream?
I am guessing it is the sound they make, also.
I wonder what he would do if you rented Planet of the Apes.
...or King Kong!!!
Yeah we might have to avoid King Kong in the future! I thought it was the sound as well but the orangutans weren't really making any noise on the show last night. I guess apes just freak him out .
Puff has never reacted to animals or their sounds on TV/radio -- it's like she distinguishes between the real and just images of real. She does react to a dog bark or strange noises in the neighborhood.

Our old dog used to hear a doorbell or knock on the TV and she would bolt to the front door and start barking like mad.
