    DefaultAny suggestions?

Last night at about 10 pm, I discovered quite a bit of blood on the carpet. After a brief investigation, we determined that it was Sammi's blood and it was coming from her rear end. John took her to the ER vet and it turns out that Sammi had an infected anal gland that ruptured. They did what they could for her and sent her home with antibiotics and pain meds. I've given her the meds but she's still crying constantly. It's breaking my heart. They told John that I could put a wet, warm wash cloth on her butt 4 times a day or so to help clean it and relieve the pain. I've done that (as much as she'll let me) and now I'm all out of ideas.

Is there anything else I can do for her? I still have some syringes with liquid pain meds from when I took my cat to the vet a couple of weeks ago. I probably shouldn't give her any of that, huh? She's so uncomfortable.

    Ideas?

Can you call your regular vet and ask them what you should do? Maybe get her in to see them if she's still really bad?

I agree that giving her the cat meds is not a good idea. A lot of cat/dog stuff doesn't apply to the other and can sometimes be dangerous.

Oh NO!! Poor Sammi! :'( I think I would call my normal vet to see if they had any ideas. I have none to give, but hope all is better today.

Ok, I called. They said there's really nothing else that can be done. It's just really painful and I need to keep her on her meds. :'(
