    DefaultDarla is one tenacious girl.

Another winter and the pond is freezing up. That doesn't stop Darla though. Give her a task and she will use everything she's got to get the job done. When her plan isn't working you can hear her grunting to try to get more effort. When her brother Bob interupts her plan she will chase him away in frustration. If she wasn't wound up so much she would make an awesome search and rescue dog.

Wow - you can hear the gears turning in her head, can't you? I was getting worried watching that video, that she would hurt herself on the ice - she's so driven, eh? Our guy has much the same drive, he won't give up. I've often thought he'd make an awesome search dog, he's so focused when he's trying to find something.

Great video - I need to get a video camera!

Nice looking dogs you have there too, by the way!

    Thanks Bev,
I haven't been on the site for awhile so much catching up to do. Here are a couple other pics of the kids

Would of been a good pic except for the nose marks on the glass.

    Wow! She's a smart one.

Does the cold water ever bother her?

I don't think she notices the water temp at all. She is the one that always wants to initiate play and always beelines to the pond. She never hesitates going in while Bob on the other hand will put a paw in and you can tell he says "no way". This vid is from last year when the pond froze for the 1st time.

After retrieves in the water, we play retrieve in the yard and I think all the running warms her up. It does wear her out quicker though as her naps are a little longer.

We have the same nose marks on the patio doors here too! And on the mirrored doors on the hall closet. :

Wow! She was certainly not going to let it get away. She knew what she wanted.

I think it is in the gender. When a woman makes up her mind she wants smething, it is best to just get out of the way. DW decided we were getting Chocolate Lab this past January. I ignored several reminders through mid February. That is when I remembered the rules. Yes! Dear! and the search was on.

Have you met Hershey Kisses yet?

    Wow! Now that was determination!

I love the part when she turned around and looked at you as if to say "Well, are you gonna put down that camera and help me, or what?"
