    DefaultA totally avoidable accident. :-(

And I am completely and totally sick about it. :'(

Mark and I took the dogs for a walk in the woods this morning. On the way back, I started throwing snowballs for the big dogs. I threw one up in the air and the boys (Murphy and Riley) both sprung at it...with their mouths wide open.

Honest to God, if I live to be a hundred I will not forget the sound that was made when their teeth went clashing together.

Murphy broke an incisor. Riley is unharmed. Vet is not too worried and thought we should wait it out before coming in. He seems to think that Murph isn't in any pain, but I am not sure.

I am so sick about this. I know it was an accident. But, what the hell was I thinking??

You were thinking it could be fun--it was an accident. You didnt intend for it to happen....cut yourself a break.

Where the dogs having fun? Of course they were or they would not have jumped for the snowball. Is Murphy going to be alright with a broken tooth? Hershey Kisses is missing all of her upper incisors and one lateral incisor. She doesn't know she is missing them, or at least I can't tell. The worst part of this, is if it is determined that what is left has to come out. That would mean anesthesia for the extraction, soft food for a couple weeks, and a vet bill. Don't beat yourself up. We can't protect them from everything and let them be dogs at the same time.

You mean you didn't mean to hurt your dog?

Cut yourself some slack Anne. It was an accident....accidents happen.

I can tell you the exact result of my actions always.

Always two seconds after I take an action.

I've seen my dogs do this on their own when playing, don't beat yourself up. Crap happens.
My dogs love when we toss snowballs for them and I certainly won't stop. Just be more careful I guess.

Anne, stop kicking yourself in the ass - it was a ball tossed intended to be fun, and there is no way you could have predicted they'd clash teeth and hurt one or the other. Shit happens. I hope Murphy's broken tooth doesn't cause him problems.

Total accident - while you all were having fun! Hope everyone - including yourself - ends up none the worse for wear!
