On December 1, 2006 a sad, scared and sickly little puppy came into my life. He was approximately 4 1/2 months old and weighed only 20 lbs! He was afraid of EVERYthing. The very first time I saw him he was eating a dead baby raccoon that had been in the road a few days. His first meal with us was a can of Campbells Chunky soup. His second meal was grits and scrambled eggs.
The next day we bought some puppy food.
He gained 7 lbs in his first two weeks with us! I still find it hard to look at his first photos because it makes me so sad for him - it also reminds me to always try to be the best Momma I can for him.
One of my first favorite photos of him. 12/16/06 (I joined JL around this time)
Look how itty bitty his tail is!12/22/06
Moving forward, here are a couple pics from yesterday! We went to the park and then to Petco, just to walk around. Then we went to visit "grandma and grandpa" (my parents) and Jake got to play with his friend Roxy (my parents neighbor).

Happy Gotcha day, Jake. You are one blessed little boy!
Happy Gotcha Day Jake. I had no idea how he was at the start. It's hard to believe that happy-go-lucky face was ever so sad.
how wonderful of you to have rescued that poor pup and turn him into such a wonderful young man. I am sure that he knows how lucky he is to have you.
