DefaultDog Park in the Snow for HK

With all the noise and warnings, we get about 6 inches of snow. Opportunitiy knocks, and we are off to the dog park at our normal time. We arrive and....the only thing in the parking lot is the county plow (on break). He made one circle through the lot and wwas about to leave for the highway.

What a bunch of whimps! Wait till I see Hunter and Duke.

Hershey wouldlive to have some friends ot play in the snow with, but she is supper hyper. I am not good enough to take action shots of her, example. Wearing too much stuff, hands are cold, blah, blah, blah, mre excuses. But photo is unretouched and snow is not blue. Aperature settings are key, I guess

HK was a bit of a crazy dog. Running all over, non-stop, full speed. It was obvious on the few times she stopped for me to get a picture, she was on the hunt for something to run with.

Dad! I think there is something over there. I am going to check it out.

Hmmph! Nuttin. But what about over there? I am going to check it out. PS: Why is the snow blue this time.

Nada again, but shussh Dad! Why are you dragging your feet and walking so slow. This is fun stuff. You have to go fast to have fun in it. But quietly. I know I heard something. Its coming this way. I am going to get it, but you have to catch up.

THERE IT IS! ITS HUNTER! WHERE IS DUKE? HEY DUKE!

Never got a shot of Duke, but he was there. HK's Dad learned something besides playing with his camera. Walking a mile and a half in 6 inches of snow is work. Age might be catching up with me. I don't like it. But HK had a lot of fun.

We did run into a few other dogs on the trail, and I saw the same thing that I saw in HK. I think I saw it is the pics that Labby posted. Why do these dogs, all of them, go nuts in the snow? Why do they like it so much, what triggers them. Its not the temp, we have been in the 20s for a couple weeks.

Great pics and story to go along with them.

I think Labs just like being wet. Doesn't matter if its water, mud or snow. Bath, no though.

Great pictures. We've just got cold, cold, cold wind and very humid air. Supposed to have 60 mile an hour winds in the mountains west of here tomorrow.

I love this shot. Use a photoediting program and zoom in a little. Wish we had some snow.

Duke being the Southern California dog, doesn't get to see snow very often, but when the chance comes. He goes nuts...butt-tucking and rolling...just loving it. I've posted it before, but this is my favorite shot of Duke in the snow.

    penzpurlz,

Is this what you had in mind.

We lived in Huntington Beach for almost 6 years. Southern CA is a big area. Tell Duke that he has the ocean avaialble year round. HK will likely never see the ocean. We do plan on getting her to some real mountains though. How far are you from Big Bear. Southern Cal has snow if you can get high enough. Used to kid friends, we can ski in the morning and hit the beach in the afternoon.

Great shots. Looks like HK loves the snow. I do see alot of butt-tucking when my girls are out in the snow.

I don't know what it is either but labs sure enjoy the snow. Mine love to run around in the snow. I remember one time we had about 2 feet of snow and I had Ranger outside and he was having the time of his life leaping through the deep snow. He reminded me of a deer running through the woods.

I love the pictures of HK. She sure looks like she is enjoying herself.

That second and third picture would make a nice Christmas card.
