Topeka narrowly missed the freezing rain and sleet that'd been forecast --that band moved slightly north or east of us. It was 38 F/ 3 C, wind about 15 mph, low overcast clouds, and light rain and drizzle. Not quite enough water to wear a rain suit -- my golf umbrella gave enough cover over long johns, jeans, waterproof boots, parka, knit cap & gloves.
The overcast skies and drizzle muted all the colors but all the twigs had droplets clinging to their undersides like oval diamonds, many arranged almost like jewels on a string. Even the tops of the tasseled grasses glistened slightly in the rain.
We occasionally meet people on the trails but it's very rare on mornings with weather like this.
But this morning, we met two different people -- each at different places on the trails -- who were walking their dogs.
Both dogs were Labs, of course ;D, one black, one yellow.
