We were walking the gang in the fields behind the house. (Owned by our landlords) All three were on a leash. I see Brodie walking by a pile of dirt and he stopped to sniff it which he is a terrier nothing new. This thing sprang up and caught his paw. He screamed and screamed freaked out he was good if I was holding him. Mom held him I could not undo the trap, Arial ran to the house to get the landlords who came up and knew how to remove the trap. They were not happy the trap was there they have dogs also. I'm not sure how I can be a nurse stop at car wrecks and be calm. Brodie gets caught in a trap and I freak out. Arial who is 12 was crying I was crying. The trap did not have teeth Brodie is limping slightly but appears fine. Please guys go back and read Cappytx post about traps make sure you know how to get the dog out. To say we were shocked about the traps is an understatement never mind listening to my dog scream in pain because of them.
Update On Brodie is is fine does not seem to be any swelling. I did call the vet ans bring him in I got him pain meds and gave him one yesterday. He is a Stoic little guy so he maybe just acting tough. His ears are up and usually when he airplanes them is when he is in pain. My landlord saw a car go up to that area and I thought he was going to rip the guy from the car. The traps all 6 of them are gone now and will stay gone. There were harsh words and the police but they are gone. There was no contest because the land is owned by my landlord and there will no hunting of any type on it. Our immedite neighbor has horses we have the dogs. The landlord does not want aything like that close to the animals. Guess what they were all baited with peanut butter and dog food no wonder Brodie sniffed to check it out.
A funny thing about yesteday was when Brodie was freed from the trap we picked him up to look at his paw. then set him down Andy was jumping on the trap and in the area to see what else was there. Brodie was barking at him like " No Andy that thing will get you."
OH NO!! Poor Brodie, that must have been so scary. For you too!!
I'm glad he's OK.

IF i am not mistaken trapping is illegal in most states, find out i fits illegal in your state, and put up a cam to catch the people!

I think there has to be a season, but still why they were up there is strange.

I don't care where you live I know it is illegal to put traps on private property without the owners permission. See if you can get your landloard to notify fish and game or whatever the dept is called in your state or provience that regulates hunting and see if they will investigate it.
I am so very glad Brody is ok.
Thank You Azlab I'm still returning to post adrenaline mode. I never thought of fish and game wardens I call the landlord.
That must have been terrifying. I am so glad Brodie is okay.
