I finished it last night. Bawling, of course.....we all know how those books end. I have to say, I WILL read this book over and over again. I just emailed the author thanking him for writing it. Here are some pics of Merle from his website:

I got the book last week but haven't had time yet to start reading it. I'm glad to hear it is worth the read.

I read it over the summer and cried my eyes out too. I skimmed some of the more scientific parts but I loved getting to know Merle (I love that name!). He sounded like an amazing dog and had a great life. Glad you enjoyed it too!

I got bogged down and somewhat bored about a quarter of the way through and, to tell the truth, somewhat uncomfortable with some of the authors ideas so I put it away. I'll have to revisit it and, like Marley and Me, skip the end.

I loved this book, even the scientific parts! Laughed, cried, and envied the life that they had. I'll definately re-read this one.
