    DefaultAn old friend

I was upstairs in my work room this morning seeing how many pheasant loads I had and if I needed to load some more, this picture sits on my CD stack. This is Midnite (Oct 17 1990-June 24 2002) my last Lab, he looks a lot like Rowdy.

This picture was taken when he was barely 1 year old. The pheasants are the first three he retrived. It was not good weather, we had ice and snow two days before and it was -10 and windy. His first retreive was the best he ever did, the bird came down and went under the snow at the base of a cedar tree and took some good work to find.

That is one proud Lab. (BTW if anyone is concerned about the collar on him, my dogs always hunt with out a collar, they worry me in the field.)

Looks to me like he has every right to be proud! Midnite's first retrieve is a fine looking pheasant!

In his 9 seasons he only lost one pheasant, he looked for it every time we passed that spot over the next couple years, I bet he'll have it ready to hand me at the bridge.

Lovely to look back and remember our past labs, Midnite was a handsome boy-
