As some of you may remember we are having another pup towards the end of November.
He is 23 days old today and we are going to see him next Thursday the 25th, when he will be 4 weeks old.
I am sooooo excited, it's not like we've never had a pup before, this one will be our 5th off this breeder, but i feel just like an expectant mom, preparing everything we will need and explaining to my big labs that they have a new baby brother on the way.
I had to call at petsmart today for some big guy supplies and couldn't resist on a few puppy supplies whilst i was there.
Here's what i got so far.....
A squeaky big bird with a ropey neck.
A puppy teething Kong
A ball on a rope.
A little red denim collar, i had his disk engraved also.... we are sticking with a "J" name and have decided upon "JED".
A matching red denim lead.
Finally a labs most prized possession......his food bowl!
We will pick him up on Friday 23rd Nov when he will be 8 weeks old...it's going to be a long hard wait!...
Awwww!! He is gonna be one spoiled little guy when he finally gets home!!
Me, Abzilla and the Helomonster.
We should have had a JL Baby Shower !!!!! I can't wait to see pics !
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
what great items, so excited for you!
can't wait to see your new boy!
Love the name Jed! Be sure to post pictures that you take when you visit him next week! Do you think your other boys are going to be good with him? Maybe you need to get them some new toys as well so they don't get jealous!
I brought them a huge raw hide bone each today when i got back which they were happy about and i showed then all the things i'd bought and let them have a sniff.Originally Posted by sunnylaz
In my past experience of introducing a newbie i have never had too many probs, i suppose it's like humans, try to avoid jelousy and include them in everything- let them "help" - i always found that, as ever, if a little food bribery can be used it helps and if they think the new kid = occasional treats then i'm sure they'll love him to pieces!
I also always ensure that as the pup gets a bit older the seniors have a pup free zone to retire to if they want it so that he doesn't bother them too much, i'm sure they will all be fine though, they are all from the same breeder and touch wood, all of her dogs have been relitively docile and calm.....we'll see-
So you think it's clever to make us all jealous eh...
Looking forward to the photos though
EEEEEeeeeeee Puppy shopping!!!!! ;D That was one of my FAVORITE parts!!!
Be careful though, it can be dangerous! I had three shopping bags packed FULL of toys by the time Baloo came home!
I still remember making myself wait until he'd been born (because you never know, there could have not been any black males, etc.) And the day after the breeder called to say he'd been born I headed to PetSmart and started shopping!!
Have lots of fun shopping, and make sure you take lots and lots of pictures of your new baby for us on Thursday!!!
Baloo - 5 year old black lab
Peanut - 7 year old minpin
Monster - 3-ish year old frenchie/jack, rescue
Puppy shopping ~ what fun. Just helps to add to the excitement. Are you going to take pictures next week? Hope so, I could use a dose of puppy breath!
yep sure am, infact, i printed off a picture of Shelby that you posted last week on a puppy pics thread. She was 8 weeks and looking such a cutie pie, i wanted to show my son what Jed will look like when we pick him up-Originally Posted by ChowHound
