For me it's the quiet stare or his favorite way - paws/taps the bed repeatedly until I wake up.
A paw to the forehead, followed by a screechy yawn and a look like "wasnt me!"

They don't. They are shut downstairs so most of the time, I wake them up.
Kody is either sleeping in his bed next to our bed on my side, or he is in our bed. He starts with the loud yawning and stretching then proceeds to the nose butting and finally full body shots to the side of our bed. If we ignore all of this he will resort to his puppy whimpering and excessive pacing.
Gabby will "sneakily" attempt to get up five to ten minutes before we are supposed to get up. She stretches, yawns, and nuzzles me- "hi mom, good morning, you're late!"
If I look at the clock, I tell her to go lay down, and she goes back to sleep.
It starts with the "stare down". I know she's there. I can feel her presence. Yet she doesn't make a sound. She just sits there staring at me, silently, waiting.
Until....I crack my eyes open. Then the "thump thump" sound of her tail wagging against the nightstand starts.
At that point, I'm up. If I try to ignore her she paces and pokes me with her nose until I get up!
Every morning...same thing...

"I got the ball Mom....!!!"
I get the tiny whines. "Is it time to go, Dad? Is it....? Maybe now....? Huh? Dad? You in there, Dad?"
If it's early and I tell him to "Settle," he floomps down by the side of the bed and gives a disgusted SSSSSSIGGGGGHHHH!
It's a 12 inch sloppy tongue all over my face....or in my mouth if I'm sleeping with my mouth open :P. Wait.....did you ask about my dog or my wife?
Zoe is usually the first up...gets up, does the stretch, yawn, and then shake and sits by the door and stares long enough to get Dutch awake who then jumps off the bed, follows suit and begins to bark to get me up to feed them. Zena and Jake are smart...they stay in bed until they see me get up.
Luckily Sammi waits for us to wake her up! She is such a good girl, why oh why do I think I need a puppy!
