    Defaultthe $118 boo-boo

I took Molly to the vet today because I noticed she had a raw spot under her leg (just above her elbow area). It was sort of pussy and just nasty looking in general. Put her Sensible-harness and determined that it must have rubbed her a little bit.

The vet said it looked fine, he cleaned it off and shaved a bit of fur to make it easier for me to clean and apply ointment (which we luckily already had).

Then he looked at his chart and realized she was due for her rabies, boardatella and distemper shot. I agreed to rabies and distemper, but no boardatella. Then we had our yearly heart worm, lyme, and erlichria blood test done.

She got her rabies shot (we'll go back in the morning for her distemper), and the grand total was $118...all because I wanted her boo-boo checked out. :

To top it all off, I forgot we're out of Heartguard. I have to remember to get the prescription tomorrow while I'm at the vet for the distemper shot.

It would be a miracle if I got all that done at my vet for only $118!

    I feel your pain!

Rocky would leak a few drops of urine once in awhile so I had him tested for any possible UTI (or like illness). over $200 later and ... all clean! no problem :

All we can do is laugh it off, give our kiddos a hug and thank god it WASN'T anything serious!

    I love my vet!

Here's the breakdown off the receipt...not in exact wording (lol)

    Exam/Consult~ $35.00
    Rabies Shot~ $21.00
    Distemper Shot~ $21.00
    Bloodwork~ $37.45
    Waste Fee~ $3.50

    Total: 117.95

I love that I could pay for the 2nd shot today and just go back for it tomorrow. When I go in he won't charge anything, just give the shot and I'm out the door.

If we go in for an ear clean or a nail trim, he doesn't charge the exam/consult fee either.

    Glad she is o.k.

This is why I ask in here before I go to the vets.

The boys keep me in full time employment. I bet none of us would change it.

i don't think i have ever gotten out of the vet for less than 150.00 but i figure, if i make an appointment for one and it automatically costs me 35.00 for an office visit, both of them are going to be checked over. i have a list of items that the vet can write down to keep an eye on like abbey's fatty bumps and knees and cinders dandruff and shot updates. glad your lab is okay.

My MIL's 13mth old yellow lab Josh ate a washing up cloth the other night, my MIL was worried so she took him to her vet and he gave him a shot of something to relax his anal muscles, the obvious result was that he pooped and they managed to pull the cloth out-phew

and the cost for not putting your wash up cloth out of puppie's way.....£125! is that about $250...?

That is one expensive washing up cloth. I think I would kill my DW for spending that much money on a rag. I hope you only use it when there are guests in the house.

Wow, that is definitely an expensive washing cloth Kate!!!

Michele, Molly says not to worry there were lots of treats involved Her personal favorite is the smearing of the wax paper w/ peanut butter while she gets shots!
