DefaultWords That May Be Known Only to Your Dog

I know our labs have an extensive vocabulary.

What are some words that you think may be known only to your
    dog(s) and not to others?

    For Zoe:

    1. Garage: means we're exiting the house from the garage stairs

    2. Rigor Mortis :-\ : Go on your back for belly rubs

    3. Appetizer: Used in the context "pee and/or poop appetizer" which means if she does either, she'll get her skinny rawhide stick

    4. Vroom: vacuum

    5. Regurgitation: She'll get something I'm chewing :-X

    6. Nutrients: means she's going to get a kibble instead of a treat (she's not happy about this one)

    7. Thanks to Georgie or Jackie (can't recall which)....Escapee!
Dropped food is fair game, or I just throw several treats on the floor and say "escapee!!"

There may be others, but I want to see yours.

For Paddy: "Red bed!" = red stadium blanket is smoothly laid out on dad's bed for Paddy to nap on.

Um... that's about the only unique phrase we have. All the rest of the dogs are pretty much standard issue vocab.

wow you are creative with your words.

I can't think of anything real unusual that we say that only the dog knows. Guess I will have to start making stuff up.

    Hmmmm, I'm trying to think.

Abby and Molly both know that "trailer" means we're going to the beach. When we get there and open the car we say "get in the trailer" and they both go right to our door.

Bottom~ if Molly (or Abby, but mostly Molly)gets in bed and is in my face I say "bottom" and they go lay by my feet.

Riley's (Riley's House)~ They know that we're going to play with my cousins chocolate boy Riley. We've been saying it a lot since they're going to Riley's House on Friday to spend the weekend while we're in PA.

Hmmmmmmmm...... "Lets put the horses away"... in Labrador that means "we're gonna go play ball"!!

"We have to go to work".... in Labrador that mean "go get in the mud room "..... that's where they stay while we are at work.

Other than that, it's plain old English language for them.

"bank" means we get to go in the car and get a cookie at the drive-through window.

"Escapees" means that whatever fell on the floor is fair game for Labs - otherwise, it's untouchable. We taught Shadow and Buddy is also learning it very well. Since things like pills, onions, raisins, grapes, etc. can fall on the kitchen floor, we decided we needed a code that made it acceptable for Labby mouths.

Ha! I knew it was someone with the "ie" at the end of the name. Thanks for the word. Zoe loves that word. LOL

Most recently, Zoe's new word is "collection"

this is when she's digging at rocks at the beach and not paying attention to me.

If I say "Collection" it means I'm collecting little rock for her to swim after.

    She also knows "Crab"

Rush knows Fart. When you ask her 'did you fart?' if she did, she gets all excited and jumps and barks(she is VERY proud of her stinky farts), ;D otherwise she gives us the look like 'that wasn't me, it was Boo'.

Little tiny snake means Mom found a little snake. They both love to sniff the snakes. Whew don't know why cuz they dooooo stink.

Where's the mouse.... she runs over to look in the live trap to see if there is a mouse there.

That's about it for them that I can remember.

"vamos"! The word that I use for Emilu during the recall exercise in Obedience - "come" is way overused by me when they are in the woods.
"lets go home", means we're heading for home after walking in the woods. When I have them out, away from home, I'll ask "do you want to go home"? and they get all excitied and look for the car
"we're going to Susans" means they are going to the boarding kennel - they love it!
