DefaultNLR - I think I see the Chip

I think that I can see/feel Peanut's microchip. She has a bump right around the middle of her shoulder blades. (she was chipped in early september)

She doesn't seem to mind when I touch it or press on it, but she's notorious for not showing any signs of pain/sickness until it's really really bad. :-\

What does that mean? Should I be worried..? Has anyone ever experienced that at all..?

    What should I do..? ??? :-[

I would hav eno concerns about feeling the chip, if that is what it is. In fact being able to feel it in the center of the back at the shoulders is conforting that it hasn't nigrated somewhere else. i.e. like HKs. It is about at the 2:00 postion downone side.

If it is something else that you are feeling, I will leave that answer to someone else that might know. If I feel a bump or lump in Hershey, we are going to head for the vet. I have read too many stories on this forum (stories I appreciate because they make me aware,) to not have a vet check it out. If I lose some $s to the vet for unnecessary visits, I can replace them. If I lose HK to something I could have taken care of, I will never lose that guilt.

can you feel/see HK's chip, Ed..?

There's no redness at all, no mark that I can see. I think it must be the chip.

Now that I know where it has gotten to, Yes! I can feel it. Would I realize that I had felt something if I didn't know it was there? Probably not. I think it may depend on if the chip is within the skin, or below the skin. They aren't very big.

Labby puts chips in her pups herself. I would try to pm her.

Well heck I'd be concerned. The chip is supposed to be in the MUSCLE between the shoulder blades, not right under the skin. If its not in the muscle the chances of it migrating are greater. If it were me, I'd take the dog in and point it out to the vet. Then I'd tell the vet to read the stinkin' directions enclosed with the chips that state it should be in the trapezius muscle before they insert any more.

Not besides rechipping which I might be inclined to do. You should not be able to feel the chip if it is implanted properly.

I'll warn you now, the vet is prolly going to give you the old, "who's got the degree" speech. They might have a degree but I bet I've put in more chips than they have. My vet called ME when he started putting in chips so I could show him and his techs the proper way to do it. My chips do not migrate, even after umpteen years. Remy's is still right where it should be after 13 years.

Idiot here, but if she rechips, and there are now 2 chips in the dog, which one does she register, or does she register both numbers?

I'm not posting this to freak you out but I think I would have it checked just in case.

I read another story of several dogs with tumors from them but I can't find it at the moment.
