    DefaultBJ's limping - part 2

I posted a couple weeks ago that BJ was limping - not holding up a foot but a definate limp. It seems to occur most after he has played hard and then laid down for awhile. It lasts a day or two and then he is fine. Today we had our every other month pack ear check at the vet - and BJ is still there. They are going to sedate him and take full xrays - hips, elbows and shoulder. The vet feels that his shoulder is the trouble area. She also feels at 69 pounds he is getting a little chunky. So I am hoping that the answer is going to be muscle strain and not surgery.

On the plus side - the beagles ears are all clear!

It's amazing how a simple "their ears look perfect" can brighten my day. If you only knew how loooong we have been fighting ear infections with the bunch of them and trying to get Buster to stop licking out everybody else's ears. I have resorted to spraying their ears with bitter apple. He is obsessive!

I totally know what you mean. After Baloo had all that "poo trouble", when he first had a really nice, firm poo I literally almost cried, I was so happy and relieved. :-[

Well he's home now. The vet did not see anything on his x-rays so that is good. She had the orthopedist look at them also, since he was there today. So the prescription for now is rest and rimadyl. We have to keep an eye on him and not allow him to jump down out of the car or down stairs, also no sudden stops. He whimpers from time to time but maybe that's the anesthesia? I'm just glad he's back home.

Yay!! That's good news. It's gotta be tough when you know that it could be something so serious. But it has to feel good that it's not!!

Good thoughts for BJ. A few weeks of keeping him down, not running and jumping, will probably give it time to heal.
