Well, just got back from the vets - and it is HD - fairly severe . The good news is, since he is so young, he's a candidate to have TPO, and there hasn't been a lot of damage to the joint as a result of the HD. Our vet gave us a referral to an orthopedic surgeon, who we will go see later on this week to find out about next steps. Has anyone had a dog who has had TPO? Does anyone know of any other options (surgical or non-surgical)? I'd prefer to avoid surgery if possible, but also want to be sure I do what is best for Champ. Thanks for any info you can offer, and for the good thoughts and prayers.
Champ has been limping on his left rear leg for the past few days, and this is the 3rd such episode (the first two times, we thought he'd just pulled a muscle). He's only 8 months old, but he's gimping around like a 10 year old dog with arthritis/HD. Nothing seems to be in pain (he'll let us pinch/prod/manipulate without reacting), but he's clearly favoring that leg.
Anyway, he's at the vet right now getting x rays of both rear legs, and could use some good thoughts/prayers that the limp is caused by something minor, as right now I'm fearing that he has HD or OCD.
Poor Champ. Good thoughts for him.
