As you can tell, Nora is pretty laid back and she is not a barker....BUT let vermin/critters (includes cats & Squirrels) come in HER yard and she is growling and running around the house demanding to be let out. How she knows they are there is a mystery to me, but she knows. And they are not to be tolerated. Nick will tag along, but he could really care less.
Tonight I got a thrill! Our backyard is quite deep and even with the floodlights on there are dark spots. I opened the back door to let Nick & Nora out and she took off like a bat out of hell barking like a maniac....with Nick in hot pursuit! I had visions of Nora cornering one of the neighborhood cats! She has chased them out of her yard before, but never caught one....Thank Goodness!!!!!!
Thinking the worst, I charged out after them not sure what she had cornered in the shadows! Imagine my surprise to find the neighbor child's inflatable beach ball........but not to worry, Nick & Nora had it cornered! Nora barked to keep its attention while Nick circled around to get a better view.
It took a moment for me to assure Nick & Nora there was no threat and how much I appreciated their defense of hearth and home. I was laughing and breathing too hard.

Yeah - Diesel was getting very worked up over a pile of leaves in the corner of the yard a few nights ago - not sure what he thought he was looking at but it must have seemed quite the threat! : :
Maybe he needs some glasses.
Good job, Nick and Nora! Your peeps should have to deal with the threats of the neighbor's balls in your yard. They might step on it and fall. Good job!
