It has been SO hot down here for the last couple of months, we have really curtailed our off-leash outings. The boys, bless their hearts, have had an awful lot of pent-up energy. They still get their walks, of course, but even those had to be shorter for a few weeks there.
This morning we have had the most perfect fall weather. Gorgeous sunny skies and just cool enough to be comfortable without needing a jacket. We decided to check out what we call "Winter Park," one of our favorite places to take the boys in the off-season. It's right next to "Wave Country," a pool which is very busy during summer. There is a large, open field that also emcompasses a frisbee golf course. But if Wave Country is closed, and no one is playing frisbee golf (they usually aren't), it's several acres of beautiful, off-leash paradise! It is even fenced on three sides.
We got up and got ready as usual, but when items started to go in the red bag, the energy level went way, way up! Especially Angus. He was ear-cupping and wiggle-butting from room to room, just beside himself because he knew something was afoot.
We threw the bumper for them for about 20-30 minutes, until their tongues started looking a little long. We let them rest a bit, then we practiced some obedience. We were about to leave when we paused under a shade tree. It was just so peaceful out there, we sat back down and just enjoyed the beautiful day for another half hour. Just our little family.
We said next time, we really need to bring a blanket and just set up camp there for a while, under the shade tree, and just enjoy "being." It was so nice.

Connie, that sounds wonderful !! I can just picture that..... and yes, bring a blanket the next time !
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
It sounds like the perfect day.
Sounds like you had a great time! You should have made it a picnic, with hot dogs for the pups
perfect way to spend a day to me
You have such a way with words...I can totally picture the whole thing in my mind.
Sounds just wonderful!!
Connie you definitly have the way with words. I can really picture it. Such a wonderful day.
I wish we had a place like that around here. Although we have a nice park, we take Duke to, he still has to be on a leash. Leash law....so I have an 85 foot "leash".

That sounds heavenly.
