Frankie's got a broken tooth *Update ?? in first post*
I took him to the vet yesterday for his yearly and it turns out his top back tooth is broken. He's got a tiny bubble on his gum above it, which indicates minor infection. He told me to watch it and if the infection gets worse then we'll have to pull it or do a root canal. He has to go back in December for rabies vaccination, so he said he'll take another look at it then.
I'm guessing it's from the marrow bones, and Dr. H. agreed. Said not to give them to him anymore. I'm confused though, aren't their teeth supposed to be stronger then these bones? Is there something I can give him to strengthen his teeth?
My poor boy.
Edited - what do you think of these?
CET chewsCET chews are tough rawhide chews that have been treated with enzymes to help stop plaque formation, making them more effective than regular chews.
Hextra chews (best chew treat for most dogs)
Hextra chews are a newer product from the company that makes CET chews. Instead of blocking tartar formation with enzymes, which is very helpful, Hextra controls mouth bacteria (and bad breath) with chlorhexidine, an antibacterial. This is a more effective way to block tartar formation. Hextra chews provide the most benefit per calorie and are probably the best choice for chubby dogs.
