    DefaultRemington's Eye Dr. Appt. Results

Just got back with Remington. First, they did not have to tranquilize him!!! They were able to do the full exam and get pressure readings in both eyes by just calmly restraining him. I think all of this "restraining" him is calming him down.

The eye is looking good. There is still some inflammation inside the eye and she put him on an anti-inflammatory systemically for that. The cloudiness is actually a layer of fat that has deposited under the first layer on the cornea. It's a protective measure the eye does in response to inflammation. The steroid drops have/or could make this fat worse so we stopped the steroid, but she gave me another drop to use for the next 10 days. She can not say for certain if the fat will ever go away, but it's not affecting the overall health of his eye.

When I asked what to do the next time he needs bordatella, she said, "No Bordatella again, ever." I told her I board my dogs and the kennel needs it. She replied, "We will write you a note." I really liked her She also said to give as few vaccines as possible with him. So we will be doing titers in the future.

Good news is, he can see fine, the eye structures all look good, healthy.

Bad news is the fat layer may remain there making his eye look cloudy.

The visit was $168.00. And we have a recheck in 10 days.

Good news, all things considered. I hope the fat layer goes away.

I am glad his eye is OK and he can see OK. Hopefully the fat will be reabsorbed by the body over time.

Sounds really promising, Linda. As long as his vision is not impaired, if the cloudiness remains it just won't matter. I hope that clears up, though.

I'm glad to hear Remington's vision isn't affected and he'll be A-okay. Cool that they'll give you a Bordatella waiver, too.
