I may be biased since my son was going to be named Riley if he had been a girl...but I LOVE RILEY for a girl Of course, then my cousin had a baby boy and named him Riley : Good either way...but I love it for a girl!

Most people on first meeting Puff call her a "he," falsely assuming -- as I think too many people do -- that most dogs are male and most cats are female.

Well I know, I have it easy. But I think Riley is a good name for a girl. But the sweet yellow female lab across the street from us is named....
....Harley ( as in the motorcycle).

I know that Hershey Kisses is a girl and sometimes refer to her has 'he' or say 'good boy'. I also call her Newman sometimes. Newman is a 100 lb Yellow. Hershey is a 62 lb Chocolate. We had three kids and a dog in the house for about 20 years, and they got called each others names all the time by me. I can't keep names straight in my head.

My girls is named Riley as well. When we got her, the shelter had named her Tina (she had a brother named Ike), but Riley just seemed to fit her well. She just turned a year 2 weeks ago... So, maybe I am biased, but I think it is a great name!

Riley sounds unisex to me. Of course you can go the route that my daughter di when naming their yellow male rescue.

    His name is Bob.

    We get it too!

Bobbie is our girl - notice the feminine IE spelling. Not Bobby - who would be a boy.

Simple really. Still get alot of "What's HIS name then?" and you say "Bobbie" and they still think boy. I tend to say "HEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRR name is Bobbie"

Why do we make it hard for ourselves? LOL.

My last cat was female and was Louie ;D. Our current cat is male and is Simba. He's very very well endowed, even after being neutered, so no confusion there!
