I have noticed over the last few days that Dozer has been shedding like crazy...our comforter is now blonde. :Rukus has never had periods of the year where shedding is increased...he pretty much sheds the same small amount year round. What I am wondering is when dogs generally "blow their coat?" Isn't it about this time of year? How long does it last for?
Is Dozer a male or female? My girl sheds her worst in between her seasons, and is literally looking like a shaved sheep with the chunks of 'wool' I am taking off of her.
My boy sheds all year long, but heaviest in the early summer.
I have a blonde bed year round!
Dozer is a 3-ish year old boy. We've had him for 6 months now. He shed REALLY bad when we first got him...but we think it was because he was getting rid of the old, icky coat he used to have in exchange for a healthy one. The shedding isn't nearly as bad as it was that first time, but it's definately worse than normal.Originally Posted by luvmydogz2much
Ditto--It didn't take long for me to realize that a white comforter just wasn't going to work in our house anymore.Originally Posted by luvmydogz2much
I hope it's a seasonal thing and not an alergy that's causing your boy to shed.

If you notice that the furs come out in chunks - get your vet to test his thyroid levels.
