    Defaultquestion about 'lipsticks'

I have not had a male dog in a very long time, and my Golden's lipstick was never visible because of his thick coat.

My questions is, does the lipstick come out mostly when they are happy, or just any time? Buddy's seems to be present quite a bit and I was curious.

It seems to be when they are excited. Baloo's nearly always comes out in a sit stay, awaiting a treat/release. :

Frankie's makes an appearance when he's excited about something, or if he's sitting and intently staring at something. Tucker keeps his hidden most of the time. ;D

I had a portrait done of Jonah as a pup at a proper photographic studio, the picture was beautiful all the way down from his cute little head to his....uh oh...lipstick!!- it cost a fortune too and i was always too embarrassed to hang it up.

Not sure there is a specific reason it pops out to say hello, but Jonah had gotten all excited that day so it most likely had an influence on it- boys will be boys!!

Oh my. I had to read all the posts twice to figure out what you were talking about. I guess I need to broaden my horizons since I only have a female!!! ;D

Drake's presents itself often unfortunately. I'm hoping this diminishes with age. He's 6 mos. now. It has gotten better.

Seamus seems to do it when he's relaxed or if my mom is visiting. Sometimes I think he knows it bothers her so he does it.

Jake's is out most of the time. He's going to have a ton of testosterone so I think that has a lot to do with it. He was sitting in the ring today showing off his penis to everyone. I was just laughing.

Too funny. I have always had females so I have never had the 'pleasure' of being embarrassed by a lipstick appearance. ;D

Oh I don't get embarrassed. Everyone around me does, but I don't. Seamus' is huge so when he lets it all hang out, you're going to notice. LOL Jake's will prolly end up bigger than Seamus' and he lets loose all the time.

I have only had male dogs, so I have lots of lipstick experience.

Crash's *always* came out for photo sessions. Anytime you whipped out the camera, he whipped out Mr. Peepers.

Simon had quite the lipstick from the very beginning. The first days I knew him, in the shelter, I was treated to Mr. Peepers whenever I came to say hello. His lipstick still comes out when he's very thrilled to see you.

I can count on double lipsticks when we do sit/stays. For some reason, they come out in FULL glory whenever we do a group sit/stay. I think they view the sit/stay as more of a lipstick competition than anything else. :
