****Seems to be going in a good direction. I gave him a bath and clearly it felt good... he even let me use the gentle shower massage on his head, cheeks and snout (I figured if he got into something outside, smelling it was definitely included - BUT, I scouted out the yard and didn't see anything out of the usual).
The bath seemed to help the symptoms too... welts are much smaller!
***Diphenhydramine/Benedryl seems to be slowly helping. Talked to ER vet just now and she said to give it 30 more minutes, then one more tablet. And, since it's worst on his legs and face, to bath him and keep him indoors to try and rule out a substance outside.
I think I'll check in on the dogs that share a fence with us too to see if they've got any problems.
Poor Stoops! He is having some awful allergic reaction to something (bug bite we think) and is covered with big welts and hives. Last night he went to the Vet ER to get checked out and they gave him a shot. It helped until at least 5 this morning (I checked on him them), but he woke me up at 6:45 and looked awful again - my poor baby! I gave him some diphenhydramine and if it's not better in half an hour I'll call the ER.
You can see them on his back legs and head in this shot. I thought I'd post it just so y'all know what it looks like - I'd never seen anything like it.
Now I have to go let him sit on my lap and be loved. Poor baby!
Aww, he must feel really uncomfortable. I haven't seen anything like that myself. How they go away soon. Give him a hug for me.

Oh my god! I have never seen anything like that. That looks so uncomfortable for the poor baby, please give hugs for us! Keep us updated!
Gosh, I have never seen anything like that. I hope they go away soon. He looks miserable. Poor baby.
aaww... poor baby.
Hope he feels better soon. What did they give him? You might want to try a little benadryl. About a year ago Peanut had a reaction to something and her little face swelled up like a balloon, the benadryl helped enormously.
Baloo - 5 year old black lab
Peanut - 7 year old minpin
Monster - 3-ish year old frenchie/jack, rescue
You'll probably have to keep up with the benadryl for a while and it will probably make him sleepy. Did the vet check him over really well to see where the initial site was? Maybe he still have a stinger or something in him. Is he itchy with the hives/ welts? Cool water can help with that if he likes a lay down in the bath tub or pool
Awwww poor Stoops! Sending good thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Thanks everyone! He actually seems to be feeling OK, just tired and droopy from the benedryl. It's such a bummer, today is a beautiful day for a hike, but he needs to stay at home and be quiet, poor boy!
Boy...I've never seen anything like that either. Glad you're doing better. Hey if you can't go outside...it's a good day to watch College football.
