Me and my family are thinking about getting another dog a lab terrier mix we already have a sweet golden named Cammy camm y has hip displaysha so do you think it would be safe to get another dog?
How old is Cammy? how mobile is he? Does he like interacting with other dogs?
anyone have any ideas? ??? ???
oh yea she loves other dogs but is timid to play with them and she will be 6 in december
It up to you on how you think she can handle it. I would look for a older dog and not a puppy. A puppy will be to much for her and a smaller dog because the dog would be less likely to run into her and hurt her more. JMO
Yep, I would get a calm older dog rather than a puppy. Some breeders have retired show/breeding stock available, or you can look at rescues
Only you can judge how your older dog feels, but I think I would get an older dog. Puppies can be a pain in the butt to older dogs. Speaking from experience. Molly is 4 1/2 & Abby is 1 1/2 and Abby would just tortue Molly. Molly was able to run away from her & hold her own. If you think your dog would have trouble keeping up with a puppy, then finding an older calmer dog might work better for you & Cammy.
As the others mentioned, I don't think I would go the puppy route either. Try a rescue organization that offers a "foster to adaopt" program, whereas you can "try out" the situation and see how your current dog does.
Where are you located? Perhaps we can suggest a Lab rescue group in your area.

well the dog we have been looking at is 2 years old he is from our humane society cammy loves playing with other dogs and the dog would porbaly be mostly mine and since he is a male it would be better he isnt nessicarily a puppy though so would 2 be a good age? because then he still has alot of years letf andsince he is a terrier mix he is quiet a bit smaller than Cammy he is only a little bit taller than a corgy.
