DefaultOtis hit his head on our deck.

It seems he's inherited my clumsiness - maybe by osmosis.

He was walking off the deck tonight, turned around to see what Jason was doing, got excited and turned to take off running and ran smack into the corner post on the deck railing.

He yelped and then hit the ground. It was quite surreal actually, all 4 legs splayed out on the deck, but it was only for a second and then he was up and running again. I don't know if the hitting the deck (HA - literally) was because it hurt, because it startled him or because he just knocked himself silly for a moment. But like I said, he hopped back up almost as soon as he went down.

He scraped his eyebrow pretty good. We called the vet just to see ask how best to clean it (said just soap and water with it being so close to his eye) and then if it changes overnight, or if we don't like the way he's acting, we'll take him in tomorrow. Jason has the day off, so it works out that way at least.

Anything else I should keep my eye on with my big clumsy doofus?

Poor fellow! Thank goodness they're tougher than we are. I would still be on the deck holding my head. :P

Poor guy. I think I would watch his appetite, how he walks, laying down. If you see things that don't seem normal, then take him to the vet. Like you said...if you don't like the way he's acting, take him in. It would probably make you feel better.

Well, he seemed completely unfazed this morning - hopping up and down, running full speed down the stairs:

I think they are tougher than we think, i remember one of my old labs walking into the back of my knee once with his bone hard head and my leg gave way and i fell down!- very embarrassing but the dog's head was fine

Poor Otis!! Billie slams her head into things full force all the time. I always think "damn that musta hurt" but it never even fazes her.

Glad he seems ok this morning!
