DefaultAnyone use a dog backpack when walking your Lab?

I walk my lab every morning but was wondering if I should change it up and strap on a dog backpack to him. Maybe it will make him think he has a job when walking. Thoughts? Where could I buy one? Thanks ;D

Thor uses one when we go backpacking so that he can carry his own stuff. I think I ordered mine from campmor.com. Here is a pic with it on him

It can't hurt. Like you say, it will give the walk a sense of purpose for him. Just make sure you add weight to the backpack in small amounts.

Zoe has one, but we haven't been on any long hikes for her to get good use out of it. Start off getting them used to it around the house and build up to the amount you put in it. I think we got ours online from REI.

My SIL has one for her dog, and he loves it. Carries all his own food/treats/toys/equipment with him

Hers is the brand "Outward Hound" - I've seen it in several pet stores and online.

My girlfriend has one for her dog. I put it on Pete and he just froze. He wouldn't go anywhere. I felt bad but it was funny.

Yep i use one. Not during summer in Texas due to heat though. got one for pennies on the dollar off ebay compared to cost at PS for same exact thing.

I think i paid something like $4 for a smaller size compared to $32(?? IIRC).

But i need to order a fullsize now.

These are hearty, working dogs that actually appreciate working. I carry his water during the summer(to avoid the heat issues) There's no reason they can't be carrying their own.
