We tried everything we could think of to help Hank, but the cluster seizures where just too much for him. His temp was up to 107º this morning and I knew things where not good. I spoke to Dr. B as soon as she opened and she said she would try some other meds, but she also thought it was time.
Hank had never barked, whined, cried or made a sound the entire 4 months he spent with us. Even when he has severe seizures he naver made a sound. After I hung up the phone with Dr. B he started to cry. He was telling me it was time, and I loaded him in the truck for his final ride. Dr. B was with another paitent so I sat in the truck with Hank while we waited. I am not sure he knew I was there, but I wanted to spend as much of his remaining time together as I could. After about 30 minutes I went in to see if it would be much longer. As I was in the office I saw Barb jump out of the truck and open the back door. I ran out and he had stoped breathing. I ran back in and everyone came out to help. His heart was still there, but the rest had shut down. I ask Dr. B to end his suffering, and it was quickly over.
Thank you to everyone who sent their prayres and wishes for him to recover. He had 4 great months with lots of car rides, a labfest in Philidelphia, a road trip to Scranton, dogs that enjoied being around him, and all the love I could give to my special happy Hank. To the boy who's tail even wagged in his sleep I bid you godspeed, and a speedy journey on the wings of angels.
I love you Happy Hank!
