    DefaultI adopted your dog today

    I adopted your dog today
The one you left at the pound
The one you had for seven years
    and no longer wanted around.
    I adopted your dog today
Do you know he's lost weight?
Do you know he's scared and depressed
    and has lost all faith?

    I adopted your dog today.
he had fleas and a cold,
    but don't worry none.
    You've unburdened your load.

    I adopted your dog today.
Were you having a baby or moving away?
Did you suddenly develop allergies or was
there no reason he couldn't stay?

    I adopted your dog today.
he doesn't play or eat much
    He's very depressed, but
he will learn again to trust.

    I adopted your dog today.
    And here he will stay.
    He's found his forever home
and a warm bed on which to lay.

    I adopted your dog today.
And I will give him all that he could need.
    Patience, love, security, and understanding.
Hopefully he will forget your selfish deed.

Wow, that says a lot. Yep that would be Katie, missing the hair around her eye and all from the stress of the pound.

What a sad but beautiful poem.

I thank God everyday that the woman gave Eddie up for adoption because she couldn't handle him. He was very well trained but needs a lot of attention. I often wonder what she thinks now. If she misses him.

His bad behaviour was due to being a puppy. He has got over most of his fears, still doesn't like strange men too much but isn't afraid of them anymore. It's been a long road for him but everyday he knows he is loved....

    Joe,

    Love that poem!!!!

Every time I look at my Lexi, I could just :'( thinking about what might have happened to her had L4R not pulled her & my adopting her. Would she have survived Katrina that hit down there just 3 months after she arrived in PA.

    My pretty girl, Lexi!

Beautiful poem but it makes me very sad that some of them have to go thru that.

Of course I got Tal from a breeder but my cat Midnight was abandoned. Which floors me..social, good natured, and a nice looking feline to boot. I shudder to think what would have happened to her had I not come along.

I often look at Tal and he still has some puppy antics and I shudder to think what would have become of him with some owners. He would never have become the confident, happy-go-lucky-I-love-everybody dog he is.

    Thanks for sharing.

I have 3 rescues sitting at my feet now that have made my life so much better because they are in it. Heck one of them is even my current heart dog. The ones that threw them away don't have a clue what they are missing, but I am so glad I was there to catch their fall!
