I haven't posted a pic of Duke and Nellie peacefully together yet, (because it never happened ) so I wanted to share with you all this HUGE accomplishment! I've been waiting for the day when they will start to lie around together--it's so great to finally see it. For those of you who remember, I rescued Duke from a shelter (a first for me) and almost ended up giving him back. Thanks to all of you who responded with such kind words of encouragement, we are all still one big happy family! I couldn't imagine the house without Duke now. He is 7 months old, and weighs in at 55 pounds. Nellie is 7 years old and only weighs 59. yikes!
I can definitely see a little Pit in him as he gets older, but am no longer worried about it. He is really turning out to be such a sweet, obedient little boy. I've already started to let him out of his crate while we're at work, and he has not gotten into any trouble for these last 3 weeks! I am in total shock at that, but am so pleased with him.
Thank you again to all of you who told me to hang in there--he has been a great addition to our family, and may not have been here without the support I received on JL!

What a wonderful update!
Good to hear this nice update. So glad Duke's a great part of your family.
Not for nuttin honey...but Dakota does the pit bull ears all the time..that's what I call them. I don't see Pit bull in either one..but when they hold their ears up like that..they sure do look like it. Forgive if I'm wrong about his ancestry.
What a cute picture! It's so nice to hear that everything has turned out so well.
