I was just adding the vet bill to Ruby's file when I noticed something...
We were charged $3.50 for the disposal of the needle they used to give her the vaccine. I cannot remember ever noticing this before on any bill from the vet's office. Have you ever noticed a charge like this? Just seemed odd to me. For 3.50 I'll take the needle and dispose of it with DH's insulin needles. :-\ which we collect in a 2 liter bottle and drop off at the police station for pick up.
I have never heard of that!!! I'd be calling and finding out why they're charging for that. As much as they charge for vaccines, compared to what it costs them, they should be disposing of the needle for free.

I agree. That seems quite odd to me.
I have never heard of such a thing. it costs them nothing to dispose of them..
Id want to know why they are charging for them to be disposed..
At our clinic we charge for disposal, but it is then discounted to a price of $0 for every client. Maybe they didn't discount it for you, I know sometimes things can get busy and they may accidentally have left it on. Maybe the disposal charge has gone up and you could just ask them. Either way, I'd be calling and asking why the sudden charge for it.
We have that at our vets. I never thought to question it.
I've never heard of that either. Maybe it's something like EMA said. Let us know.

This is the first time we have ever had this on a bill... I think that's what stuck out to me. Must be a new policy or something of theirs.Originally Posted by Mambo
Oh yes. We get the "waste disposal" charge on all of ours. : Ridiculous, isn't it?

Our vet charges something silly like $1 and that's only if your dog has a procedure done not just a routine vaccine
