    DefaultEric or Felicia...Neem Oil:

So I started the boys with the Neem oil this weekend. Angus did NOT like it. Simon tolerated it. :-*

My question is, how much do you use? Like, do you soak them pretty good with it, or just mist them? I was able to get Simon a little better than Angus, who kept tucking tail and trying to run away. They both got a light misting, but I don't think I was able to coat the hairs all the way to the skin.

I know it's hard to describe something like this on the internet, but I was just wondering if it sounds to you like I got enough on them? ???

heehee Connie. Henery barely tolerates it also... he gives me That Look as in, "Seriously? Seriously! Frickin' fine, but there better be some darn good treats in it for me" :

He usually only gets a misting, but I work it in from bum-end to head... against the lay of his coat (are those the right words? ie. I fluff up his fur, like I'm petting him backwards, and give a little spritz here and there). I've also done the apply-to-one's-own-hands-then-pet-Henry-backwards technique. That sometimes works. I don't think they have to be soaked in it... Eric?? ???

Our bottle says to apply once or twice a month.

I've also seen neem oil in a mousse-foam kinda deal... Angus might tolerate that better. I'm thinking Henery would. I've also seen neem shampoo, though I'm not crazy about having to shampoo Henery monthly for its anti-flea properties.

Yes, it is natural flea protection. Our Neem Oil also has a few other essential oils in there...chrysanthemum, Aloe, etc. I am looking to get Angus off Advantix - just want to get him on as natural a program as possible, with the tendency towards cancer. It's just me being super paranoid.

Felicia, do you just put it on the top of Henery, or do you get underneath, legs, etc.?

Our bottle says once a week! :-\ What kind are you using? This is Azmira. Maybe I need to order from CA

    Where can I find it?!

Haha...I only said it had flea protection properties because I noticed it at the end of Felicia's post :P

I buy it locally, but you should be able to find it online.

My understanding is you want more of a misting than a soaking. Its not like frontline where its absorbed by the sebaceous glands and released over time. It doesn't smell too good does it!

It smelled like a citronella candle!

Well, sounds like I did alright. We'll see. So far so good.

Does it also protect against ticks? I live in NC and honestly this year has been a bad tick year for me and SU........however I have not found any ticks or fleas on Princess. I have not used any flea/tick protection on her this year. I have been so surprised that she has not had a problem - maybe the jump off her onto us for some reason! :
Does the smell of the Neem oil linger or does it go away? I would like to use some form of protection on her but I'm not too keen on the frontlines, etc either.
