I find it really hard to get excited about vacation. I hate leaving the dogs, but I also want to have a nice vacation with my son. We are driving from Ca to Colorado and will camp along the way and stay most of the time in Estes Park. At least I know they will be safe and playing with lots of other doggies while we are away. We leave early Sat. morning so I'll be dropping them off on Friday. I'm so not looking forward to that.

I feel the same whenever we go away. By the end I am gagging to get back home and see the dogs.
I hear you. I just had Cooper in the kennel for 2 weeks and I really missed him. I couldn't take him with me on this trip (I had to fly and I honestly think the stress of flying would have been worse than the kennel). It seemed so strange to go for walks without my yellow boy by my side. It really hit me how much I missed him when I saw someone throwing a bumper into the lake for their lab at the place I was visiting.......
Have a great vacation and safe travels!
I usually feel that way too. This year I lucked out and Susan (weheartlabs) offered to take Elias. This is the first vacation without Elias that I will feel totally at ease with leaving Elias behind.
Yea, that will be hard i would imagine, dreading the first time i'll need to.
I realize how empty the house is when i take him to daycare for the day even!!!
I take him to get some stress free personal time, but i find myself spending more time watching the webcam to get a glipse of him, and looking forward to going to pick him up, more so than getting my quality free time. :
I hate having to go away too if I have to leave Lucy and Cricket behind.
Have a great trip Sharon. be sure to take lots of pics to share with us!
I hope you have a wonderful time in Colorado. We rented a cabin above Estes a few weeks ago. My sister talked them out of a pet deposit because her golden and my sammie are well behaved. We had a great time. There is a great dog park around the lake at Estes with a dog swim beach.
Its so beautiful up there! Have fun.
Estes Park is beautiful. I know how hard it is to leave the furkids behind (we were gone for almost a month this summer!) but I'm sure you'll have a great time here in beautiful Colorado!
Didn't we start a list of doggie sitters on here??? I'm lucky my parents with the big dogs and my inlaws watch Smeagol so I don't have to worry.
I love that idea! It would be great to be able to leave the dogs with other labs and people we know are concerned for their well-being...
