My parents are up visiting from Florida and staying on one of the lakes here in town. When I went to see them this morning dad came rushing out to me saying something about a dog in the lake and what can we do to help get it out?
I went out to the sea wall and could see this Dalmatian … front paws reaching the top of the sea wall and she was standing on her tip toes in the water. She could not jump up out of the water and was getting tired. I did have some problems … no collar and she wanted to growl at me. She showed her teeth a couple times, but I knew she could not do anything with her in the water and me on the sea wall. I got on my hands and knees and sweet talked her … still did not help. Told my dad I sure wished I had a catch pole so she could not slip back down into the water.
Dad came out with a broom that he had rig up a rope on the end of it with a slip knot on it. He had run the rope through the hole on the end where you can hang the broom up. I was able to get the rope over her head so I knew if she started to go under we drag her up.
While all of this was going on my mom called for the animal control officer to come out and help. (Funny, this in my ex) Steve got there and came around the side of the house with his catch pole and saw me holding onto my “catch pole”. He got her out of the water and we got our poles detangled. He asked if I knew where she belonged. I wished I did because he would have taken her right back to their house, as it is I am sure she went to the shelter. At least she did not drown.
Oh wow! What a good deed. I hope she either finds her home, or goes to a new family. I'm sure she is grateful to you, even though she growled - was most likely scared to death.
Bless your Heart, so glad you were there to save the poor spotted fella!
Good deed indeed! You know you can do something bad to get back to zero right? I highly recommend an old fashioned prank phone call. ;D

Oh my GOSH! What a harrowing experience! I would have just puddled after that. Well, not pee-puddled, but you know what I mean. :P
I'm so glad you were there to help her. Sounds like your dad was very resourceful too!

Thank you for caring and saving her!
Aw, that poor baby
I'm so glad you were able to help her!
Lablover! Way to go. Hard to let an animal drown, even if it isn't a lab. Hope he.she gets back to its home.

Glad you were in the right place at the right time and was able to help the boy!
